Bipul Kumar

I have always been fascinated by tech gadgets. I was the kid who grew up reading comics, playing early 90's games and watching sci-fi movies. (What's your favourite movie?) While I was in 5th std, I got to learn LOGO, I was so captivated by the fact that, with few lines of code, I was able to make a triangle turtle move and draw a pattern.

And, That's how it all started

It hasn't changed much since then. The other day I was trying to move a simulated robot and instructing it to find a path to goal. I still get astonished by new technologies and ideas.

I have worked on multiple applications involving diverse field of technologies like IoT, VR, UI/UX, ROS, Machine Learning, Mobile Applications. All these experiences made me a polyglot with Web-programming languages and can transform deisgn thoughts into working prototype very quickly

Currently, I'm enrolled into Master's program at SUNY Buffalo and honing my AI and Robotics related skills.

Robotics Algorithms - (BUG2, SLAM, A*, VFH) using ROS

Laser-Based Perception and Navigation using Obstacle Avoidance
A 2 wheeled robot is equipped with a 2D laser range finder in order to detect obstacles in its environment. It needs to get to its charging station using a homing signal.
Atonomously plan and execute a path for a robot in the Stage simulator from a start location to a goal location, given a map. The global plan is given by A* and the local planning is done using a modified Vector Field Histogram (VFH)

Bayes Filter

Grid localisation using Bayes filter

Grid Localization is a variant of discrete Bayes Localization. In this method, the map is an occupancy grid. At each time step, the algorithm finds out the probabilities of the robot’s presence at every grid cell.T he grid cells with maximum probabilities at each step, characterize the robot’s trajectory. Grid Localization using Bayes filter runs in two iterative steps that utilize the movementdata (prediction step) and observation data (update step).

In Android, if you are building an application for WiFi connectivity and IoT, Android might push the SSID to supplicant state and not give any response for further connection. Robot Learning

Explored the Multi-agent Reinforcement learning techniques to explore and understand the concepts of rationality and convergence better by leveraging the foraging task, where we have robots scrambling to pick up objects and collecting them in a bin. The aims of the project were following:
• Formulate a basic grid based foraging multiagent environment with a gym like interface
• Formulate and implement a basic goal setting strategy to train our agent
• Attempt to transfer the same to a robotics simulator (webots)
